Color Your World - Self Portrait
Class experience
Based on ideas from the book, "Jackson and the Not-So-Colorful Day" students will learn that they contribute to the beautiful colors of the world by producing all kinds of artwork. Using the theme of "Self Portrait", we will explore similarities and differences of various types of art. Each session will take us into discussions about what are the benefits vs limitations of each art type. This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their understanding of different types of art media. Students will also be encouraged to use positive language to discuss their own art pieces as well as to compliment fellow classmates' art pieces.
Homework Offered
Students will be working on projects individually. Each project will be worked on during class time, for some projects, students will be encouraged to continue to work on their designs outside of class time if they need more than the allotted time.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Week 1: Mirror Crayons Drawing paper (plain printer paper or construction paper) Week 2: Lego or similar building blocks Week 3: Pencils Writing Paper Week 4: Clay or play dough Paper plate to work on (optional) Week 5: Any Recycled materials (EXAMPLES: paper towel tubes, cardboard boxes, buttons, fabric swatches, plastic bottles, ripped up magazine pages or scrap paper in different colors, leaves, flowers, yarn, buttons, etc) Glue or tape Scissors (Optional) Week 6: Pencil Watercolor paints watercolor brushes watercolor paper small cup of water napkins Week 7: Device with access to scratch website and account already signed in Week 8: Completed art projects
