Class Experience
***If you would like to take this class but need a different time just ask & if I'm able I will open a class at the time you need. ***All are welcome including ESL and students who are neurodiverse. This class is a time for learners to relax and unwind, or rejuvenate and energize. It's a time to have fun, be creative, meet new friends and build social skills. Friends in this class will have time to initiate their own topics of conversation each week if they would like, as well as to...
I am happy to address individual learning outcomes in this class if appropriate. Feel free to let me know what you'd like your child to work on. Otherwise the outcomes would be to: -have scheduled time for a relaxing, art and fine motor activity -practice conversation skills such as staying on topic, taking turns, active listening -have fun and meet new people.
I've taught children for 24 years in the public school system. During this time I've facilitated many social skills classes and groups. I love to create and have taught art and crafts to children in a community setting. I have a Masters of Education in Educational Psychology, & a Bachelor of Science in Special Education.
Students should bring their coloring sheet(s), coloring book or paper for drawing, and crayons, colored pencils or washable markers. If a student would rather bring play dough or other quiet art media that is good also. I will try and post a coloring sheet in the classroom each week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some young children may need help with or supervision around technology.
Teacher may share brief Youtube videos to support topics. For example, a time lapsed video of a chick hatching if we were discussing chicks and eggs.
