US Grade 10 - 12
Description: Prerequisite: Ideally students should have completed Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. NOTE : Students must have a reasonable amount of academic maturity to enroll. NOTE: If no one shows after 10 minutes, class is canceled, no make ups, no refunds, no exceptions. The way I teach this skill is very easy to learn and your child will be prepared for success in Algebra. I will show students how to do an exercise on the white board. They will learn by actually doing example exercises during class. I will repeat with another exercise and will explain as many times as needed until the students are ready to do the exercises by themselves. Once started, I will check their answers for accuracy and follow up with any necessary explanations. I encourage all participants to try as many exercises as possible. I follow up the class with an upload of homework with the solutions. The course breakdown is as follows: (NOTE: Instructor reserves the right to change and modify content) Week 1 Class 1: Understanding the unit circle. Convert from degrees to radians. Convert radians to degrees. Class 2:Find a positive and terminal angle that is co-terminal with the given angle. Find the exact value of the expression without the use of a calculator. Week 2 Class 3: Use an appropriate Pythagorean identity to find the indicated value for an acute angle. Class 4: A point is given on the terminal side of an angle drawn in standard position. Find the values of the six trigonometric functions. Week 3 Class 5: Find the reference angle for the given angle. Class 6 :Use reference angles to find the exact value. Week 4 Class 7: Find the values of the trigonometric functions from the given information. Class 8: Identify the ordered pair on the unit circle corresponding to the real number t. Week 5 Class 9: Identify the amplitude, period, and phase shift, and graph the function. Class 10: Graph one period of the function. Week 6 Class 11: Find the exact value or state that the expression is undefined. Given an inverse functions. Class 12: Find the exact value. Week 7 Class 13: Simplify trigonometric expressions. Class 14: Factor the expression and simplify factors using fundamental identities if possible. Week 8 Class 15: Using addition and subtraction formulas to find an exact value. Class 16: Finding exact value of a given expression under given conditions.
Syllabus
16 Lessons
over 8 WeeksLesson 1:
Convert from degrees to radians. Convert radians to degrees.
In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises, immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections.
Students will be introduced to the concept of radian measure. Radian measure is critical in understanding pre-calculus. Students will learn how to convert degrees to radians and radians to degrees.

Lesson 2:
Find a positive and terminal angle that is co-terminal with the given angle.
In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises, immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections.
Students will learn how to find a positive and terminal angle that is co-terminal with the given angle. This skill is essential for future lessons of this course.

Lesson 3:
Find the reference angle for the given angle.
In this 50 minute class, the first 20 minutes will used in explaining concepts and working detailed examples for students. The resultant 30 minutes will be used for students to practice exercises, immediate feedback will be given along with explanations and or corrections.
Students will learn the concept of the reference angle ; this is important in understanding the cyclical nature of the sine and cosine functions and how it relates to the unit circle.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of Houston
Hello everyone! I am Mr. Millan!
A little about me:
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston, where I found my passion for the vast field of mathematics. I worked as an engineer for HNU Systems, an environmental company based in Boston, where I not only excelled in my craft, but was asked to train personnel in industrial, academic and corporate settings.
However, something felt missing in my career. I began tutoring mathematics to people from all walks of life and found that I could combine my two passions: mathematics and my newfound love for teaching. As a result, I obtained an Educator Certificate from the Miami Dade County Public School System, and officially began tutoring full-time in 1995.
I realized this profession was my true calling in life when one of my very first clients, a prospective PhD student, told me I was a natural at teaching. This was the first of hundreds more praises of my teaching style and effectiveness.
Many people believe that they cannot learn math. However, I challenge that opinion every day. Everyone can learn the beautiful language that is mathematics. I have cultivated an eclectic but very effective form of teaching that has proven applicable to every one of my clients, from children to college students, and even teachers and professors. My students often tell me that I make math look and feel easy and doable, and they are able to grasp the concepts very quickly.
My 30+ years of teaching experience has been a rewarding experience. I have worked with all kinds of students, even those needing special accommodations. I have had the opportunity to connect with each one of my students and boost their confidence, not only in math, but in all academic endeavors. Mathematics becomes manageable, fun, and accessible to all my students!
With Outschool, I teach all levels of math to all ages within the platform. I teach:
Arithmetic
Pre-Algebra
Algebra I & II
College Algebra
Geometry
Analytic Trigonometry
Pre-Calculus & Trigonometry
Business Calculus
Calculus
High School & College Level Statistics
I cannot wait to kickstart this fun, learning experience with you as we navigate challenging math concepts and learn them with ease!
