Class Experience

This is an informational workshop for college bound, current 11th graders. Discussions will include what colleges are looking for, standardized testing, the college search, taking ACTs and SATS, how to practice for college interviews, practice fitness tests for military academies, questions to ask on visits to campuses, creating a list of 5-7 possible institutions, continue resume building, asking teachers for letters of recommendation, how to start formulating essays, and extracurricular camps. Discussion will be about 20-25 minutes with a questions and answer session to provide information sharing and questions another may not think to ask.
Learning Goals
Students and families will continue into a deeper conversation into the college planning process as an upperclass student. This is an informational workshop is for college bound, current 11th graders.  Part of the class will be devising as a lecture about standardized testing, college interviews, deciding what colleges to apply to, wrapping up your resume, and asking for letters of recommendation.

I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA.  I also hold a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses. Furthermore, I have served as a college counselor for almost 5 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. Many of these students have been accepted to great institutions such as the U.S Air Force Academy, the Coast Guard Academy,  the University of Georgia, University of Virginia, William and Mary, Duke, University of South Carolina, Auburn, Virginia Tech and many more. I have taught middle school, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning center.
