What will be taught? What topics will you cover? In this course, I will use PowerPoint to walk through tips and insight for incoming college students. This course does not cover applying to college. This course centers around building a successful campus life. These topics include: Meeting your roommate and RA, Financial Aid, Class Syllabus, On-Campus Opportunities (Clubs, Sports, Organizations), Work Opportunities, Mentors, 4-Year Academic Plans, Healthy Habits, Minors/Certifications, and Other Simple Tips I will also show students examples of a college syllabus, 4-year plan, and resume. We will end the class with a discussion time so that students can share their questions, concerns, and ideas. How is your class structured? How will you teach? What's your teaching style? This is a one-time class in which I will use PowerPoint to guide students through the topics listed above. Students are welcome to take notes. I will pull up Word documents and PDF's to share examples of a syllabus, 4-year plan, and a resume. The class will end with an opportunity for students to discuss their concerns and hopes, ask questions, and connect with other high-school seniors who are heading to college. How much will learners get to interact with the teacher and each other? Students are free to interject and ask questions at any point. I am a recent college graduate and finished at the top of my class. I am excited to help other students have a successful college experience and will continue to serve as a contact for the students who take my course. Any required experience or knowledge learners need? High school seniors will benefit the most from this course. This course does not cover applying to college. This course centers around building a successful campus life. Students do not need to be accepted into a college to benefit from this course, as long as all students understand the purpose of the course.

I will display a PowerPoint presentation and I will pull up Word documents and PDF's to share examples of a syllabus, 4-year plan, and a resume. Students can write notes if they would like to!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a recent college graduate and finished at the top of my class with a major, dual certification, and a minor. I was the Teaching Assistant to the President of my University and served as a Resident's Assistant for several years. I maintained a summer position in student life where I assisted administration in rewriting school policy. I was part of the honors program, tutoring department, a service team to Northern Ireland, and several honor societies. I also earned a national championship and several awards as a cross country athlete. I LOVED college and am excited to prepare incoming freshman for a successful year!
