Class Experience

US Grade 11 - 12
In this one time class, I will briefly review college admissions and how to get the attention of an admissions officer.
We will discuss why certain topics are too common and how to find a truthful unique topic about yourself that you may never have though of.
I teach AP Language and Composition and each year my students do a college project. I will discuss the project and how it aids students to find a topic that may not be obvious on your resume.
Your essay needs to show a side ofyou that the rest of your application does not.
Learning Goals
Students will come out with a good essay topic to develop and work on. Each student will leave class with a brief outline of how to write about the topic, as well as the do’s and don’t s of college application essays.
There is no better time than to work on this during the summer prior to when you will apply. You will not be rushed in the fall and with the idea you create, you can continue to hone it to perfection.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
I have been an educator for more than 25 years. During that time, I have taught elementary school and high school (last 16 years). I have taught every level of student and I know how important it is to begin where a student is: to capitalize on strengths and to improve and work on weaknesses. I teach Language Arts: reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, (especially for college applications) and literature. Over the past ten years, I have become a most sought after SAT/ACT tutor and I love helping students to achieve scores needed to be able to appy to schools of their dreams! My students also often call me a "life coach". I connect with teenagers-I tell it like it is and I encourage them.
Lasy year I became a grandmother for the first time to two beautiful little girls. My favorite thing to do is read books to them!
