What's included

4 live meetings
3 hrs 40 mins in-class hours
Homework
2-4 hours per week. Because of the intensive nature of this class, most students will need to spend an additional 30-60 minutes per day working independently on the different stages of the college essay process. Clear instructions and materials to guide independent work will be provided. Students will receive feedback on their work from peers and from the instructor. No assignments are required, but they are strongly recommended to get the most value out of the class.

Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 12
The personal essay is a crucial part of the college application process, but many students are never taught how to write one - this class is here to fill that gap!

In this intensive one week class, we'll walk through the process of writing a strong personal essay, from brainstorming to editing. Every student will leave the class with a draft of their application essay as well as a plan for individual next steps.

Just as important, every student will leave with a clear understanding of the process for writing a strong personal essay and a collection of brainstorming resources that will help them with any additional essays they might need to write.

Each class session will focus on one stage of the writing process. There will be additional work for students to do outside of class, which is optional but recommended. Class time is spent analyzing model essays, collaborating with peers, conferencing with the instructor, and working on individual writing activities.

This class is intended for students who are applying to college in the fall, or who are preparing to apply in the future and want to get a head start on the process.
