Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to create an effective resume, how to compare colleges to create a college list, and how to address most college application prompts.
I have been teaching high school English for six years, including AP and concurrent credit classes. In this capacity, I have helped students successfully create resumes and draft college and scholarship application essays. As a tutor, I have helped multiple students with various aspects fo the college application process.
There is no homework, though it is recommended that students apply the tips from class and use the provided resources as necessary to create a resume, college list, and rough draft of a personal statement.
Students will be provided with documents and spreadsheets. Students are welcome to print these in advance, but if they aren't able to, they can take notes separately.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students' understanding will be assessed through brainstorming exercises and discussion.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
When addressing college lists, students will discuss factors such as location, cost, majors, etc. If there are particular considerations you would like your student to be aware of, please address them with your student before class or please inform the teacher. Any information discussed will be fact-based. The teacher will not offer opinions about colleges or whether or not a student should apply, etc.
Students will be provided with documents and spreadsheets.
