US Grade 11 - 12
The college application bootcamp will help students prepare to complete their college applications. Day 1: Students will make a college list and a resume. The resume can be used when completing the honors and activities portion of college and scholarship applications. Day 2: Students will look at the common app prompts as well as some sample essays in order to brainstorm what they want to write their personal statement about. Students will begin a rough draft for homework. Day 3: Students will have in-class writing time as well as an opportunity to present their personal statement (or a portion of their personal statement) for feedback. Students may submit their personal statement for feedback from the teacher (on the Outschool platform) within one week of the end of the class.
Learning Goals
Students will narrow down their college list and learn how to use active verbs to represents their accomplishment on a resume. Students will also learn how to write about themselves effectively in a personal statement.
