During this course, students will learn practical study strategies to apply to a lifetime of learning.

Class Experience

Study skills are approaches applied to learning and are critical to success in school, essential for acquiring good grades and useful for learning throughout one's life and career.  

Each student will begin by taking the LASSI (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory) for High School.  This is a 10-scale, 76-item assessment of a student's awareness about the use of learning and study strategies related to skill, will and self-regulation-- components of strategic learning. I have administered the LASSI to hundreds of students and evaluated their score reports to determine what interventions were necessary for success.  I have prepared individualized plans for students that effectively facilitated academic success.

  1 file available upon enrollmentThe College and Career Ready: Study Skills for Successful Students Workbook is required and is included as an e-book with the course.  

Also, students will need an access code in order to take the LASSI. This is also included and will be provided by the teacher. Students must complete the LASSI at least 24 hours prior to class.  The access code will be given to each student upon enrolling.
