US Grade 3 - 6
In this class, I will teach what collective nouns are and what some of the most common collective nouns in English are. Many people know “A clash of rhinos”, but I will teach a bunch of, a box of, a piece of and more. Learners will identify from a short text what the different collective nouns mean, and then will match the collective nouns with items, eg a bunch of keys. Learners will then use collective nouns as they discuss giving gifts. Finally, learners will use new vocabulary/new collective nouns to fill in the gaps of a short passage and also see the subtlety in the different meanings of three collective nouns which can all be used to mean a group of people. I will teach from the front as I am the subject specialist and learners can ask me questions at any time and interact with each other. Learners can use the chat function if they do not wish to speak in front of other learners. This class is perfect for both native English speakers and ESOL learners. All abilities are welcome. No prior knowledge is needed.
