Description
Class Experience
In this highly interactive one-time class, we will work together to choreograph our own original dance. We will learn how dancers and choreographers use the 8-count system to create their dances, explore different movement styles, and create at least one 8-count of movement each for our dance. Each class will start with a brief check-in. We'll warm up our bodies to ensure we are physically ready to dance and then warm up our imaginations to ensure our minds are ready to create. We'll use the...
Learners will gain confidence, kinesthetic awareness, and improvement in coordination, balance, and agility. They'll also practice collaboration and teamwork skills while strengthening their creative ability.
I've taught dance to young movers for 7 years in a variety of environments from dance studios to brick and mortar schools to free library programs. I've choreographed full musical productions and individual pieces for dancers of all ages, including professionals. In addition to my teaching experience, I am also a professional performer educated at a Conservatory of Performing Arts.
The only requirements for this class are: a small, clear space for movement (aim for 5ftx5ft square), clothes you can move in, dance shoes (socks or bare feet acceptable), a water bottle, and because of the physical nature of the class learners will be required to keep their cameras on throughout the class and an adult-supervisor is recommended.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please be advised that for the safety of your learner it is of the utmost importance parents be aware of any potential hazards and ensure that their learner has an open space, proper footwear, water, and adequate supervision to prevent injuries. This is a physical class, and we will be stretching and warming up safely, but please make sure your Learner is equipped with all the tools they need to succeed! This class is inclusive, which means Learners of all abilities and backgrounds are welcome. Together we work to build an inclusive environment that encourages, supports and celebrates our diverse voices. We share and respect pronouns, we support each other's Learning differences, and we create a safe space for all Learners. If your Learner needs any accommodations, please let me know, and we will work together to ensure that they have the best possible class experience.
