This class is a fun social camp about Reptiles, Amphibians and Tarantulas. Each day, I will have different LIVE animals for students to see up close! Students will learn fun facts about each animal in addition to its natural habitat, characteristics, behaviors and it’s specific needs and proper care when keeping it as a pet. Students will be encouraged to bring their own pets to class (if they have any), and any artwork, toys or other materials relevant to herpetology or insects. Teacher expertise and credentials
I am offering this class because I am passionate about these wonderfully amazing animals, many of which are rapidly going extinct. I currently teach classes and give animal experiences with my nonprofit Angiesanimals.org and work with other non-profits in Atlanta, GA. The Amphibian Foundation is tirelessly working to save local endangered species, and part of that work is done through education outreach.(Please check out their camps & classes too on outschool!!) We do this to inspire others to see the beauty and importance of these “less loved by society” animals! Through our education outreach program I bring animals to schools, homeschool groups, clubs and events all over Metro Atlanta and North Georgia teaching about amphibians, reptiles and insects, while giving people the opportunity to touch and hold many of the animals. I also use these animals as therapy animals for children and adults with chronic illnesses and disabilities. I plan to bring my same enthusiastic and engaging style of classes to the online learning environment.
