In this one-time course, students will learn the basics of programming through the use of LOGO programming. LOGO utilizes a turtle that acts like a paintbrush and students will practice line-by-line coding in order to write their own name!

In this course, I will teach the very basics of computer programming by having kids actually do line-by-line coding using the LOGO programming language. Students will learn about typing in codes to control a turtle on their screen. The class will be structured with me leading students to the website we will be utilizing that will allow us to use the turtle graphic interface. I will then demonstrate where to type the codes and students will see the turtle in action. Once they are comfortable with the codes necessary to draw, they will then get the chance to design their own name with my support.

Students will learn the basics of LOGO programming by drawing their names using the turtle interface.

Parental Guidance
I use a free website called Turtle Academy. If you would like your child to be able to save their work (which I highly recommend) they can log in with Google to create an account. Parents, please feel free to use your own email address if you are not comfortable with your child using their own. Email addresses are only utilized by the website for login purposes.
