Coding With Python for Beginners 2: Cells and Data Types
Class experience
In this class, students will learn the basics of programming starting with an introduction to Python and data types. Understanding data types is a fundamental building block to understanding how code works and how to "talk" with a computer. This introductory class will help learners develop an understanding of logic and critical thinking. Students can code with me in real time while I explain the steps (although it is not required). My goal is to get learners involved with the learning...
I began programming in graduate school where I used Python for data organization and visualization. Today I continue to use it with at my job with the U.S. Geological Survey.
No supplies will be necessary. If the learner wants to follow along with their own code, they can use Google Colab!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Class includes the optional use of Google Colaboratory. Google Colaboratory requires a Google account and works similar to other Google software (like Google Docs). If the student does not have a Google account or does not want to code, they can just watch and learn! More information can be found here: https://research.google.com/colaboratory/faq.html
Some dictionary definitions were obtained from: https://www.w3schools.com/python/python_datatypes.asp
