Class Experience

This is an intermediate, project based, coding series for kids (Ages 8-13) who have coding experience on Scratch using loops, if/then conditions, and multiple sprites.
For students who have taken my classes before, you can take this class series after completing levels 1,2, and 3.
These are different games from my Code-a-thons.

Students should already have an account on Scratch before logging into class.
In each of the 4 classes, kids will make a new video game using step by step instructions given by the teacher. Full tutorials will be sent to students after class.
At the end of the series, kids will have a thorough understanding on how to use many features on Scratch and how to modify current games and make new games using their creativity.

Day 1- Game #1 - Animations
Day 2- Game #2 - Overlap
Day 3- Game #3 - Artificial Intelligence
Day 4- Game #4 - Artificial Intelligence

Important notes:
-Students will need a laptop or desktop computer to code.
-As per Outschool Policy: For the safety of all participants, all cameras must be on for the first few minutes of the class session.
All students learn at a different pace, I will stop often during the class to ask questions and help students who need help to catch up. By the end of the week, many students will take initiative and move ahead as they develop their expertise using block coding.
Students will need a laptop or desktop in order to code. Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome as the preferred browsers that have proven to work best with Scratch.

Learning Goals

By the end of this 4 class series, students will:
-Have a basic understanding of what is artificial intelligence and how it affects their daily lives.
-Know how to use Scratch to make intelligent bots.
-Know how to use Scratch to make animations.
-Practice using coding loops and if/then conditions.

Other Details

Supply List
