Class Experience

Get ready to code, dance, and have fun! Before joining, your child should complete my Coding Fun With a Botley Robot. Mission 1: Let’s get Moving, to understand how Botley moves.

This flexible series lets you pick one-time classes that fit your schedule. In this session, we’ll program Botley to perform a dance routine using loop commands! Kids will create repeating sequences, helping Botley groove while learning how loops make coding more efficient.

Botley uses a similar programming style to Beebot, a tool used in many schools, making this a fantastic way to build on classroom learning while sparking creativity.

Materials & Setup:
    • Print the attached PDFs so your child can draw challenges they aren’t coding.
    • No accessory pack needed, but if using one, set up a 2x3 tile grid before class.

I’m happy to adjust timing to suit your family’s needs—just let me know!
This class requires at least 2 children to run or it will be cancelled.

Learning Goals

By the end of the session, your child will be able to understand that an algorithm is a set of instructions, program a toy by inputting a sequence of commands/codes, and predict how different sequences lead to different outcomes.
