Beginner Level
Lesson is aimed for pre-readers. Students will learn the basics of programming, problem solving and critical thinking skills with Code.org. I will model and introduce steps to coding. Class Lesson: Introduction to coding Lesson 1 - Drag and Drop - This skill-building lesson will give students an idea of what to expect when they head to the coding puzzles. Lesson 2 - Introduction to coding - In this skill-building lesson, students will develop sequential algorithms to move a squirrel character from one side of a maze to the acorn at the other side. Lesson 3 - Continue coding with Angry Birds. In this skill-building lesson, students will continue to develop sequential algorithms. Teacher will provide a special login image before class. Students will need a device for coding.

Students may continue coding at home.

Hello! My name is Cynthia Burleigh. I live in Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Science in Information Systems. I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher.
I love to teach Reading, Math, Spanish, Technology and STEM (including robotics). I love spending time with family, teaching, and running. A little fun fact about me...I run marathons for fun! I can't wait to see you in class.Reviews
