Class Experience

This is a perfect opportunity for students who have created some basic Scratch games and ready to learn some advanced concepts!

*** This class is not for students who are new to Scratch.

=========> By the end of this class, students will be able to- 
1. demonstrate a Space Invaders game using various Scratch/programming concepts. 
2. debug their code to make sure the game is working as expected
3. explain the concepts used in the game development
4. discuss possible future improvements of the game

You will be spending a total of 3 hours over 2 days to create the game. Before the 2nd day of the class you should complete the homework which will help you to complete the game on time.

Day-1

Review Scratch (30 mins)

1. What is Scratch? How it works? 
2. What is a sprite? How do you add multiple costumes to a sprite? 
3. How do you switch between multiple costumes? 

Advance Topic: Cloning, broadcasting, shooting( 50 mins)

1. What is cloning? 
2. How do you clone in Scratch? 
3. How do you clone in a 2D space? (both x and y axis)
Discussion (10 mins)

1. What did you learn? If you want to clone a sprite and move all the cloned sprites at the same time, how do you do that? 

Day-2

Designing the game ( 20 mins)

1. How many sprites do you need for the game? How do you know that?
2. How to code each of the sprites? 
3. How do you shoot? How do you dodge? 
4. How can you add scores and lives? 
5. What happens to your player's life if it gets hit by the enemy? 
6. How can you delete only one clone? 
Coding and debugging (50 mins)

1. Write codes to make a space invaders game!
2. Use the concepts that you learned in the class
3. Debug your code to make sure the game works and there is are no issues when the game is being played! 
Sharing and discussion(20 mins)

Discuss future updates that can be made to make the game more realistic
