Description
Class Experience
Coding is the new literacy! In this private class, the student will learn coding by creating fun interactive projects in Scratch. Scratch is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations. I will tailor each project to a learner's specific interests and capabilities. The student will also learn about visual language, the basics of design, digital art, and visual communication. Experience: No prior coding experience...
I have a bachelor's degree in Art with an (CG) animation concentration from California State University Northridge. I've thought in-person coding and computer lessons to California public school students for more than two years.
-A Laptop or a desktop computer with webcam, speaker and microphone (No iPad and Chromebook please, unless you want to use it as a second screen for Zoom) -Internet: 3mbs+ -Using the Chrome browser is recommended -Having two devices, one for Zoom, one for Scratch would be helpful.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
25 minutes per class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The project can be completed without making an account, but cannot be saved and shared on the website. You can save the file to your computer without an account. You need to create an account at https://scratch.mit.edu/ and sign in, if you want your Lerner's project to be saved automatically. You have the option to share the project publicly and the option to keep it private. If you decide to have an account, please create one before the class starts. You can login and have the first page open by the time we start. Having two screens would be helpful. One for Zoom and the other one for Scratch. Using the Chrome browser is recommended. Ensure your learner can switch between sharing their Scratch website screen and viewing the teacher's shared screen if they only have one device. This can be done using the screen sharing feature in Zoom.
