Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 6
Beginner Level
Coding is the new literacy!

In this private class, the student will learn coding by creating fun interactive projects in Scratch. Scratch is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations.

I will tailor each project to a learner's specific interests and capabilities. The student will also learn about visual language, the basics of design, digital art, and visual communication.

Experience:
No prior coding experience is required. Knowing some coding wouldn't hurt.

Must know:
Kids need to be able to use a computer.
Knowing how to click, right click and drag and drop is required.
Being able to go back and forth between Zoom and Scratch websites or having someone to help at the start of class would be needed if you are using only one device.

Recommended:
Having a mouse is helpful but not required only if the learner knows how to drag and drop and right click without a mouse.

Important note:
Ensure your learner can switch between sharing their Scratch website screen and viewing the teacher's shared screen if they only have one device. This can be done using the screen sharing feature in Zoom.

Hello there!
I'm Teni Haroutunians, and I teach animation, coding, art, and languages on the Outschool website. I hold a BA in Art with a concentration in animation. I work as both a freelance artist and an educator. I have experience in teaching in person computer lessons to K-6th grade students in CA. These lessons cover a range of topics, including coding, digital citizenship (responsible and safe technology use), Google Suite, Thinkercad, 3D Paint, 3D Viewer, and more.
I'm genuinely passionate about helping kids nurture their creativity. The courses I design are not just easy to follow, but they're also a lot of fun. In each class, we kick off by exploring a project example. From there, we build it together from scratch. I teach students the techniques, provide the tools, and encourage them to infuse their unique ideas, making each project their own.
If you're curious to learn more about me, here's a tidbit: I'm a language enthusiast. I find joy in both teaching and learning languages. And my favorite animal? That would be a green owl named Duo!
I'm excited about the opportunity to teach your learner! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Looking forward to having them in my class!
