In this ongoing weekly course, learners will learn how to code in Minecraft: Education Edition using Microsoft's MakeCode block coding.

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
- Develop a foundational understanding of coding concepts and principles.

- Learn how to apply block coding techniques to control and manipulate elements within the Minecraft Education Edition.

- Explore and experiment with different coding commands and functions to create interactive and dynamic Minecraft experiences.

- Enhance problem-solving skills by identifying and resolving coding errors and bugs in the Minecraft environment.

- Foster collaboration and teamwork by engaging in small group coding projects and whole-group coding challenges.

- Cultivate creativity and imagination by designing unique and innovative coding solutions for various Minecraft scenarios.

- Build confidence in coding abilities and develop a growth mindset towards computational thinking and programming.

- Reflect on the coding process, evaluate personal progress, and provide constructive feedback to peers.

- Gain a deeper appreciation for the intersection of gaming, coding, and education through hands-on Minecraft coding projects.

- Develop transferable skills in logical thinking, sequencing, algorithmic reasoning, and problem decomposition that can be applied beyond Minecraft to other coding contexts.

Each week, learners will continue to build a solid foundation in coding using MakeCode and block coding, and will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to continue exploring and creating their own coding projects within Minecraft Education Edition and beyond.
I'm a certified K-12 teacher with nearly 10 years of experience in the classroom. I have completed professional development courses on using Minecraft: Education Edition to implement core curricula with students of all ages and skill levels. I am also a Minecraft Certified Teacher. 
Learners will need a device to play Minecraft: Education Edition. Minecraft: Education Edition is available for PC, Mac, and most tablets. Please make sure to download Minecraft: Education Edition prior to the start of class.

Learners will also need a license to a Minecraft: Education Edition account which will be provided by Mr. Matt prior to class.

Please note that learners will NOT be using their personal Minecraft accounts or gamer tags. Learners will receive log in information to a Minecraft: Education Edition account for free before the start of class. In Minecraft: Education Edition, users will only be able to see other learners in our private world and only their first name will be visible.
