In this one-time class, kids will listen to the kid-friendly story "Too Much Candy" originally written by Shreya Sharma but adapted and edited for this class by Teacher Denise. Immediately following the story, we will make several easy Halloween themed crafts with the teacher. The synopsis of the story is that a little boy brings home a big, pumpkin-shaped trick-or-treat bucket full of candy that keeps growing bigger and bigger the more candy he eats out of it until he becomes afraid of the giant jack-o-lantern full of candy. In the end, he wakes up to realize it was all a bad dream the morning after Halloween, and he vows to never eat too much candy again. Crafts made by the students during class will include (but are not limited to) paper jack-o-lanterns, tissue paper ghosts, fold-and-cut spider webs, paper plate face masks/costumes, spider/bat cut-out paper garland. Note: There is no physical/published book for this story, therefore the teacher has created her own illustrated slide-show version of the story to read along with students during class using the screen-share classroom function.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have experience teaching students ranging from grade school ages into adulthood, tutoring 1-on-1, and teaching large groups. I was a language and art/music teacher in Europe for about a year, while traveling around Europe and the UK, where students came to learn English and study various topics through theatre and play activities. In the past, I've also taught kindergarten through 5th grade students in a US public school, and I taught ESL online for nearly 3 years as a certified teacher.
I graduated in 2017 from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. I am currently studying front-end web design while working as a private tutor and website creator. In my free time, I enjoy playing music on my ukulele, travel photography, and baking. I have a passion for all forms of art and the creative process that comes with it.
Whatever my current situation may be, I feel motivated to empower young students to realize their academic and creative potential through meaningful play and personal mentorship. I am looking forward to creating fun and productive courses through Outschool and I look forward to seeing you in my classroom soon!
