Coach's PokÉMon Gym: Come Play PokÉMon Yellow, Stadium, Snap, TCG, and More!

Come join the TEAM! Come join other Pokémon fans in the Pokémon Playthrough TEAM, where we embark on an interactive adventure through classic retro Pokémon games. In this class we will play through Pokémon Yellow. Each week, we make decisions togethe in a 'huddle up" style"—whether it’s choosing which Pokémon to catch, what moves to use in battle, or which path to take. This is a great place for Pokémon fans to engage in fun discussions and enjoy exciting gaming-themed activities. This class is a blast! 



**CLASS STRUCTURE**
We use slides to guide each class in a smooth and organized way. Each session starts with the Team Meeting and Ice Breaker Check In, designed to get everyone talking and comfortable right away.

We kick off the adventure with a quick recap of our previous session just like in the TV show starting with "When We Last Left Our Heroes..." From there, the class dives into gameplay, where students vote and make decisions on every step of the journey.

Each class wraps up with a fun Pokémon-themed activity, like trivia or challenges. These activities test your knowledge of the game and add to the fun. I am always evolving my classes to make them better, and here’s an example of a typical class format:

-Team Meeting - our Work Hard Do Right reminder and our Life Lesson of the Day
-Ice Breaker Check In - What have you been up too? Goals you have or have set recently? 
-"When We Last Left Our Heroes..." - What we did in class last time so that everyone can be caught up
-Interactive Gameplay: Make all decisions as a team (moves, catches, exploration).
-Pokémon Challenges or Trivia.

This class is just the beginning! I am using it to figure things out but later this year, you’ll have the chance to join Pokémon Summer Camp, where we’ll dive into even more adventures including:

-Pokemon Snap (Nintendo 64)
-Pokemon Stadium 2 (Nintendo 64)

Summer Camp will feature the chance to play through even more of your favorite Pokémon games. I also have a way to transfer the Pokemon we catch now in Pokemon yellow to the Pokemon Stadium game. Come join the TEAM now to get a head start on the fun!



***CLASS INSPIRATION***
Parents, remember that feeling when your neighbor hood friends get you into a new hobby? I remember when my neighbor hood buddies said "wait, you haven't seen Pokemon!" and then riding our bikes to Ethan's house to watch an episode on a VHS tape. Pokemon was big then and it's big now, but the world has changed! Now our neighborhood friends can be found all over the world and there is a way to find people who are into the same things as you. The internet is cool and Outschool is GREAT! As a teacher, I love bringing that same sense of excitement to my classes. This isn’t just about gaming—it’s about building a community of fans who can share their love of something while learning teamwork, decision-making, and strategy. Watching students come together and create an amazing journey is what makes this class so special. So I dug out my old Gameboy and Nintendo 64, bought a few pieces of technology, and started putting together a class to take advantage of this stuff I have laying around!
