Students will be formatively assessed during class while participating in the fitness activities. They will be asked checking for understanding questions periodically to confirm that learning is taking place.Class Experience
Be active and have fun! In this 30-minute class, students will participate in a wide variety of fitness activities that are creative, stimulating, and engaging. Upbeat music and a positive atmosphere will enhance each workout and bring smiles to the learners’ faces. This class will consist of a mixture of Tabata circuit training exercises ranging from stretching, muscle building, conditioning, cardiovascular endurance, and core strengthening. Each activity will be modified for all ages, skills, and ability levels. The only supplies needed are sneakers, a water bottle, and a space to be active. First, we will warm up with a fun team building activity which will include dynamic stretching and mindful breathing techniques. The main portion of the lesson will be Tabata workouts. This invigorating interval training format is based upon four-minute circuits consisting of 20-second intervals of movement followed by 10-second intervals of rest before beginning the next exercise. To ensure proper form and safety, all of the exercises for each circuit will be pre-taught to the students. Finally, class will end with a cool down consisting of light static stretching and mindful breathing to relax our bodies. During this time, students will be given the opportunity to socialize as we reflect on the day’s lesson. Throughout each exciting and interactive class, learners will be taught about health-related fitness, heart rate, muscle groups, and proper hydration. While we work out, we will earn lots of “sweat trophies” with our fellow classmates.
Learning Goals
