Hello! My name is NM Darian Nguyen, and I'm passionate about teaching chess to students of all ages and skill levels. Here’s a little about me and what you can expect from my classes:
Classes I Teach:
I specialize in teaching chess to kids aged 5 and older, offering classes that range from beginner to advanced levels. My classes are designed to be engaging and educational, focusing on improving strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for the game. Additionally, I host weekly competitive online tournaments for my students to help them apply their skills in a fun and challenging environment.
Professional Background:
I have been playing chess since the age of 4 and achieved the title of National Chess Master at 16. I am a multiple-time Arizona State Champion and placed 2nd at the K-12 Scholastic Championship in 2016. Over the past six years, I have taught chess to students locally and internationally, preparing them to compete at national levels. Many of my students have won state championships, and I’m proud to have coached two players who now compete for the Taiwanese girls national chess team. Recently, I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Sales.
Values and Teaching Philosophy:
My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a positive and encouraging environment where students can develop both their chess skills and their confidence. I believe in personalized instruction tailored to each student's unique strengths and areas for improvement. My goal is not only to teach chess but to instill a lifelong passion for learning and critical thinking.
Fun and Personal:
When I’m not teaching or playing chess, I enjoy exploring new cuisines and cooking up new recipes in the kitchen. I also love working out , which helps me stay active and inspired. I’m excited to share my love for chess with you and help you achieve your chess goals while having a great time!
I look forward to meeting you in class and embarking on this exciting chess journey together!
