Club STEM: Fun LEGO Challenges With Ella
What's included

45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Welcome to Club STEM LEGO Challenges Spring Semester (2021). I love to make learning fun! I believe that learning never has to stop. By using the STEM method of interdisciplinary studies, students will gain analytical, creative, problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way. Students are encouraged to bring their legos and complete the weekly challenges. For Spring, we are learning about fun holidays (Lesson examples: Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day, Black History Month inventors, educators, engineers and scientists, national storybook day, April Fools...etc.) Students will gain more confidence by building well-rounded skills that they can use in many areas of their everyday lives. They are encouraged to share their builds and build social skills with peers. This class is 45 minutes long and students are able to stay after class to chat more if time allows. If students need to go to other classes, they are welcomed to leave as needed after the 45mins. Students can also share their previous builds and give helpful feedback to other peers. What to expect: -Each lesson will be different. -Students can select "gallery mode" to view classmate's screens during class. This encourages a sense of community between them and also makes the class more engaging. -The teacher may occasionally "mute" students in order to manage the class. -The teacher will make every effort to give each student opportunities to speak and engage throughout the lesson. Students can "unmute" when given permission. -The teacher will provide the week's materials prior to the start of class so students can come to class prepared. Some examples of additional materials include tape, string, straw, scissors, a cup of water, notebook paper, pencil, and other household items. **Disclosure** Due to time constraints with LIVE lessons, some students who need more time to complete the activities will be redirected to view the "class recording" at their leisure. This affords them the extra time to complete the activity when the teacher is unable to stay after class to tutor them privately. Purpose: Students will look forward to unwinding from the busy school week by continuing their learning in a fun, safe, afterschool environment. They will be able to meet other peers and connect with them through socialization and teamwork on tasks.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence through the successful application of skills learned in engineering, mathetics, technology, communication, and science. They will engage in fun learning opportunities and activities both individually and with peers.
