This is not a full immersion class. This class is designed to be a softer approach to learning Spanish. Students should feel comfortable expressing themselves in Spanish with explanations in English as needed. This four day course will cover the following in Spanish: Day 1 : Introductions, colors, number 1-10, letter sounds Day 2 : Conversation practice, numbers 11-20, using articles and nouns in Spanish, reading practice, phonics practice Day 3: Days of the week, conversation practice,...
By the end of this course, students should be able to have a basic conversation in Spanish using the vocabulary they have learned.
Hello! My name is Brandi Guzman. I have a BA in Spanish with P-12 teacher certification. I have been teaching Spanish for 12 years. I have taught ages 7 up to high school. I enjoy teaching students of all ages. I have also traveled extensively. This has given me an interesting perspective on what it means to know a second language. I am not a native Spanish speaker. I had to learn, and continue to practice to become proficient in Spanish. I understand the challenges that come with learning a second language. My goal is to inspire students to learn about different cultures, travel, and put into practice what they are learning.
There will be homework assigned after every class. These assignments should not take more than 15 - 20 minutes to complete.
A document containing the vocabulary and grammar for the four week course will be sent to students a few days prior to the first class. Students are encouraged to have this document available and to use it to study during the week. Optional items: Notebook Pen / pencil
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be a final presentation on day 4.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
