In this 6 day class, the teacher will use the book "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" as the foundation for a series of reading lessons that incorporate the study of weather, weather words, weather predictions and food.

Class Experience

Students will improve their reading, listening, predicting and drawing conclusions skills. Students will increase their understanding of weather and weather words. Students will increase their understanding of food and food groups. Students will increase their creativity and writing skills. 
Students will be provided with any additional materials needed for these lessons. Homework will be minimal and require 30 minutes or less. Students may (optional) utilize a notebook and create a Weather/Writing Journal. All materials will be utilized during and after classes to help ensure your child's learning. 
Pencils and crayons or markers will be utilized by your child during the classes. All other curriculum materials will be provided by the teacher. An optional notebook for the student to construct a Weather/Writing Journal would be helpful. Notebook paper can be used for the Weather/Writing Journal and a separate notebook does not have to be purchased. Students DO NOT need to be familiar with the books in this lesson prior to the classes.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
A written assessment of performance will be provided to each parent following every class. The assessment will include both strengths and weaknesses. This assessment will help the teacher and student by guiding the instruction in subsequent classes. 
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
