45 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this ongoing class we will spend 45 minutes of focused tidying. Maybe your room needs cleaning, or tidying (those are different things) or you just want to organize your desk. Class format will be: Check-in What you hope to accomplish? Do you have the supplies you need? Do you need any advice? Then we do cleaning spurts of 4-7 minutes. With a check back in between tasks. Currently I am using the Encanto soundtrack and we pick one task per song (sometimes a task takes 2 songs). For example, take all the dishes in your room and check back in when you've done that=one song. *When the class gets going, Learners can take turns picking their favourite music. This class is for young people who want to clean, tidy, and organize their space but need some accountability. I will offer some structure and guidance, and can suggest an order to get learners started. I can't 'make' learners clean their room but I can offer a system to reduce the overwhelm of a messy space. This idea comes from a strategy called Body Doubling. Body Doubling is simply a person keeping someone company while they complete a task. The Body Double may or may not offer assistance or advice, but mainly their job is to keep company the person doing the task. If Learners want I will have a "Clean Your Room Checklist" but this class is really about setting aside time to actually get things done. Age range is very flexible, feel free to contact me if your learner is younger than the recommended age. The idea for this class came up when I was discussing with teens in my Art Journaling For Teens class about how I need a buddy to be motivated. One of the Learners said they'd been wanting to organize their room for a month and hadn't seemed to ever get it done. There was a lot of agreeing and then one of the learners said I should offer this as a class....and here it is.
Learning Goals
The learning goal for this class is to develop a system to clean and tidy a space. Also a meta learning that will happen is learning what you need to get something done. ie-having a Body Double is motivating

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Anna and I believe everyone is an artist and that includes you. My classes give creators a safe and encouraging environment to really dig in and express themselves. The number one goal in all my classes is for everyone to experience making with joy and confidence, and not be stifled by how accurately they can draw what they see.
I've been encouraging young artists for years, and children love my classes because they are fun and silly, and I (almost) always say yes. Creating a judgement-free environment of safety so young people can express themselves authentically and be proud of what they've done is the aim of every session.
I have taught art, craft, sewing and quilting locally to children and adults. I have trained as an artist educator with the Royal Conservatory, and was Artist in the Classroom at our local public school.
I am passionate about children and teen mental health, having supported my own children through their teens, with issues ranging from anxiety to ADHD and learning disabilities. I was a parent guest on Dr. Ross Greene's Lives In The Balance radio show. These experiences and philosophies guide my learner-centred teaching style where I lead with guidance and suggestions rather than hard rules and expectations.
I live in Toronto, Canada, where I'm happiest when it's snowing. When I'm not art journaling-you can find me playing hockey.
My classes include one time, ongoing, and multi week sessions of art journaling for teens and tweens. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about what class would be a good fit for your learner.
