Class Experience

In this class, I will teach the children about the properties of air-dry clay explaining that while it is wet, we can make it into any shape.
I will demonstrate the pottery hand-building techniques to form the clay into a pinch pot.
After following the directions, children may choose to turn their pinch pot into a bunny by adding ears and a face, or turn it into a little bowl they can decorate.
I will explain that after leaving their creation to dry for a few days, it will become hard and they can choose to paint it and seal it with mod podge.

Hi, I'm Ms. Colleen.
I'm an Early Childhood Educator and home educating parent. I have my degree in Child Study from Mount Saint Vincent University and I have been teaching for 28 years. I am also a certified EFL (English as a Foreign Language) instructor. I speak both English and French. In 2020 I discovered my love of teaching online. I guess every cloud really does have a silver lining! My family and I live in beautiful Atlantic Canada. I'm excited to share fun and interactive learning activities with your children! Teaching is truly my passion and that shines through in my lessons. My teaching style is calm, patient, and warm. I believe that childhood is a journey, not a race. I love to learn new things and I try to instill a love of learning through my lessons. I love to laugh. I like to incorporate singing into my lessons because I believe it helps learners relax and absorb information, especially when learning a new language. I hope to see you soon in one of my classes!
