Class Experience

Come craft with me, it will be so much fun! In this step-by-step craft-along class, everyone will finish the class with their own unicorn charm or sculpture. I will guide with detailed instructions both verbally and with a clear visual example. This is a hands-on class so be ready with your clay, tools, and clean work surface.

*Multi-learner classes will be discounted from the listed price. Enroll in a class with another learner or invite a friend!

After class, your sculpture will be ready to be cured (please follow the curing directions for your particular clay and ask your parents for help if needed).

I will be on camera the whole time and as well I will have a second camera showing my crafting as I demonstrate live. We will start class with introductions followed by discussing clay and how to work with it. We will test out what happens if we roll it, squish it, pull it, and practice simple color mixing. Our main focus will be on how to create simple shapes and attach them together. This class is appropriate for any experience level but is tailored to students who have never worked with clay before.

**Please check the supply list. The pace of the class is learner-driven and may go over the time listed.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how clay can be used as a sculpting material.
In the process, they will gain the patience that comes with beginning a new skill.
They will enhance their creativity, motor skills, and focus.

Hello everyone!
If you see a class you like but the time doesn't work, I'm happy to work with your schedule. Even if you are in a different time zone or my automatic availability isn't open at a certain time, reach out and there is a good chance I can make something work for you.

A bit about me and my teaching style:
I am passionate about art and creativity. Even more so, I love to inspire that in others. It's not about talent or skills you were born with, it's all about expressing yourself and growing your talent through practice and guidance. I believe everyone has the ability to create masterpieces and should have the freedom to find their own way of making them. I teach with a step-by-step demonstration approach while encouraging students to do it their own way whenever they feel ready to do so. This approach allows for wonderfully blended classes where the less experienced or shy learners can follow along with me and the bolder ones can work in their own way alongside us. Either way, we all end up with unique art we can be proud of and improved knowledge about the art/craft process we are practicing.

My classes are designed to be highly interactive and engaging with questions & answers throughout as well as hands-on activities. Be sure to check the supply list for each class because learners get the best experience when they are ready to learn with every material needed for the class.

In addition to my bachelor's degree in biology, I have a Graphic Arts certificate which I earned from Autry Technology Center. I earned 1st place in state (Oklahoma) and 6th nationally in the 2001 National Skills USA Championship competition in graphic communications. I teach the arts of drawing and painting to adults online on a voluntary basis. I also teach arts and crafts to children as a professional online and as a volunteer in person.
I have over 3 years of online teaching experience with students 4-17 years old. I have also worked with children in person in a variety of settings from my current position as a children's church leader to volunteering in afterschool care for at-risk children.
