We will be learning clay hand-building techniques and fine motor skills by making a planter cup from slabs and sculpting facial features on top. I will be working through the project alongside the students, walking them through each step and taking questions when needed. Clay techniques include: Slab-making Scratch and scoring Sculpting Wood glue or a waterproof sealant (if you want to plant in it) This class builds on the skills we learned in my clay mask class. It's one thing to be able to sculpt on a flat surface, but there are a whole new set of challenges when sculpting on a hollow vessel. Prior clay experience will be helpful, but you're child is welcome to try it out even if they're new to clay. It being a one-day class, we will not be painting. I encourage students to paint and send pictures when their creations are finished!
