Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote forty-one symphonies in his short life. His final one, known as "Jupiter," is considered one of the greatest symphonies ever written. This class will look at the history of work, the orchestra, and what musically makes up this final, joyous, and fantastic symphony, including the jaw dropping five-part fugue in the finale. We will also listen to several excerpts from the work. We will learn through lecture, class discussion, and listening. Students are often asked engaging questions to give them a chance to think about the learned material and express their opinions and feelings. Students are also regularly encouraged to ask questions of their own. Prior musical experience may add enjoyment to this class but it is not required. The classical masterpiece series is for all students!
Learning Goals
Students will gain knowledge and familiarity with Mozart's 41st symphony.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello parents,
I teach music classes for all ages, many of which can be taken without prior music experience. I also offer math tutoring and in the future hope to offer creative writing classes. Before coming to Outschool, I taught general music and band in public schools, as well as tutoring students in math and language arts.
I hold a master's degree in music composition, and a bachelor's degree in music theory and composition. For over twenty years I have written music for a variety of instruments and genres. I have also been a regular performer in classical, rock, blues, and jazz bands as a tubist, trombonist, and bass guitarist.
Former principals have described me as "awesome" and "a blessing" to my students, and I always strive to create a learning environment where they feel supported, safe, and happy.
Besides music, my hobbies include video games and writing fiction. I even wrote a fantasy novel ten years ago!
