Class Experience

In this class young learners will be introduced to elements 1-5 of the Periodic Table of Elements. This is an introductory class. Often times, students are not introduced to the periodic table of elements until later in the schooling however, it is important to know about the elements when conducting experiments, learning more about science, and familiarizing themselves with the table itself.
**There is also a semester version of this class that meets 2x per week for 6 weeks.*

Class 1- Period Table of Elements introduction elements 1-5: Students will learn the names of the elements 1-5 and create a drawing that will help them remember the first five elements.
Class 2- Hydrogen
Class 3- Helium
Class 4- Lithium
Class 5- Beryllium
Class 6- Boron

The next class will introduce elements 6-10.
Students will learn facts about each element every week.
It is important for young learners to understand the fundamental concepts of chemistry so that as they advance through their education, they can think critically about what they are reading, experiments, and research they are conducting in science classes.

Teaching style:
I enjoy getting all students involved in their learning, encouraging group conversations, and checking for understanding throughout the lesson. I use individual accommodations for each student as the class goes on, based on the needs of the individual.
