Class Experience
In this 25 minute class, students will learn 1 or 3 video editing tricks, effects, or filters that will help you make better videos on CapCut. Students will also get the opportunity to request specific skills to learn in the class and will also be able to share previous video editing work that has been pre-approved by the teacher.

This is class 1 which is the one requirement before entering the beginner level ongoing class.

If your learner has ZERO editing experience, please make sure to watch the overview video in the classroom that goes over the CapCut layout and some important words we use to describe windows and tools.

CapCut App (Desktop or Laptop) is free to download and free to use. If you don't have a computer and still want to learn video editing, reach out to me as I have other options.

Teaching Material and Style
During each class, I will be asking the students questions to find out their goals and interests. This is a very short class and we focus on learning 1 to 2 skills. I do encourage the students to let me know what they would like to learn and if possible, I cover it in the same class. I aim to have a balance between learning and having fun.

Since my experience video editing is mostly in iMovie, CapCut and Movavi I am able to give instruction and guidance on these software programs. If you are looking to learn with a different program, you can find other teachers with those offerings.

Parental Guidance
In order to participate in this class, all learners will need to have access to a Desktop or Laptop computer with the free CapCut app installed. We will use this program in the class. I will be sharing my screen during the lessons to show examples and explain the editing skills and features. The official CapCut privacy policy is outlined below for reference (https://sf19-draftcdn-sg.ibytedtos.com/obj/ies-hotsoon-draft-sg/_/710deab9-e5fd-45de-9238-27e949e1f06e.html):

Bachelor's Degree in Education from Green Mountain College
Hello and welcome! My name is Andrew and I am a teacher, former Assistant Camp Director and volunteer firefighter.
I teach:

- CapCut Video Editing
- Beginner Morse code

In my high school years, I took an Amateur Radio Licensing Class that included learning Morse Code. I did so well with the Morse Code that I earned an award for being able to send and receive the code at 5 words per minute. As a senior in high school, I taught and organized a small group of high school and middle school students about Morse Code.

In 2013, I graduated from Green Mountain College in Vermont with two degrees: Adventure Education & Youth Development & Camp Management. During my 4 years of college, I also created a Ham Radio Club and offered classes and fun projects to college aged students.

After college, I worked for 5 years at the Hawthorne Valley Farm Visiting Students Program and Summer Camp programs. I started out as a camp counselor and eventually worked one year as the Assistant Director. During this time, I again occasionally taught a Morse Code class to the interested students who were 9-12 years old.

Teaching Values:
1. In class, I like to make the classroom fun and engaging so that the students can enjoy the learning process.
2. I will never make anyone feel bad about getting something wrong. I will allow mistakes to happen and them guide the students to correct their own work.
3. Every class, I make an effort to connect the content to real life examples to help bring out more interest and enthusiasm in the students.

As a teenager living in rural New York, USA, I communicated to another Ham Radio Operator in Alaska using Morse Code with a handmade dipole antenna.
