𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪: In this six day, two-week camp, very beginning clarinet students gain basic skills. These skills include: assembling the clarinet, embouchure, posture, tonging, instrument care, and five basic notes [ C D E F and G ]. While appropriate for any beginner, this camp is intended to give students starting clarinet in the fall a basic BUT SOLID head start. Students increase their confidence throughout the camp by practicing several basic songs. All materials for this class will be provided by the instructor before the first day of camp. On the last day, students will even perform a mini recital for their classmates! In my years of experience, I've learned this solid foundation gives your learners a savvy start for a lifetime of playing! 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗘: ○ Day 1 • Introductions • Clarinet Anatomy • Clarinet Assembly • Hand Position • Making a Sound • The Notes G, F, E, D, and C ○ Day 2 • Hot Cross Buns • Au Claire de la Lune • Good King Wenceslas • Mary Had a Little Lamb ○ Day 3 • Tounging • Lightly Row • Aura Lee • Go Tell Aunt Rhody • Saints Go Marchin' In ○ Day 4 • The Note A • Alouette • Camptown Races • London Bridge • Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star ○ Day 5 • Frog Song • Long, Long Ago • Down By the Station • It's Raining, It's Pouring • Rondo Alla Turca ○ Day 6 • Recital Day! • Review of Previous Songs! NOTE: This schedule is subject to change based on the needs and abilities of the learners enrolled. We will add or take away songs as necessary. 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧: This class is structured in an "I do, we do, you do" format. For example, I assemble a part of my clarinet, the class assembles that specific part, I spot check each child has assembled their clarinet correctly. This ensures the success of every student. This class is intended for the very beginning student with no previous knowledge or experience playing clarinet. 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗦: • Some familiarity with online classes/zoom is highly recommended. Students need to be able to focus on the clarinet. In order to do so, this should not be a learner's first online class. • Please ensure you can attend all six days of the course before signing up. Recordings and materials are provided for those that have to miss a week. I do not provide makeup classes. 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗜𝗭𝗘: To run this class, I need a minimum of two learners. This class will not exceed six learners. Please know, I make every effort to meet my class minimums and not cancel classes. 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗨𝗠 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗦: • I offer a flex version (NO LIVE MEETINGS) version of this class. Please see "FLEX: "Clarinets Take Flight!" Beginning Program: Unleash Your Musical Potential" • I offer private lessons on Outschool! Please see "Weekly Private Lessons in Clarinet, Flute, or Saxophone: Let's Make Music Magic!."
