Class Experience

ABOUT LESSONS:
In this class, students receive private, individualized instrument instruction from a highly-experienced teacher. Typically lessons include warm-ups (long tones, scales, articulation studies), and music from an appropriate method book. Students are assigned music from their method book every week. While this is a typical course of study, lessons can be highly customized for your child. If your child needs help with a specific piece of music, kindly scan it to me ahead of time. My teaching approach is to focus on improving a child's overall knowledge and skillset of their instrument. Anyone can "practice" with your child. A fundamentals based approach develops independent mastery and skill. Over fifteen years of teaching clarinet / flute / saxophone lessons, I've seen this approach lead to great success.

WHY 45 MINUTES:
I've created this class specifically for students/families who may need "a little extra time" with me. Does your child:
- Have "big goals" for the clarinet, but you're not ready for my hour long time slot?
- Need a little extra processing time?
- Participate in a lot of ensembles and need coaching both on the clarinet AND band music?
This time length may be for you!

WHY MS. KATHERINE:
I've been teaching clarinet / flute / saxophone lessons for many years to students of all ages / levels / exceptionalities. I am uniquely dedicated to your child's success learning their instrument in a relaxed, comfortable environment.

NOTES:
- This class is scheduled by request. Please send me a message to set up a private section.
- 45 minutes not right for you? Please see my other classes for 30 minute and 60 minute versions of this class!

CANCELLATION POLICY
This class is set-up as an ongoing class. Please think of that as a standing appointment you're setting up with me and your learner. You'll be charged every Sunday by Outschool unless you've told me in advance that you cannot meet that week.

I cannot provide make-up lessons to students for no shows unless you message me 24 hours in advance. In the event that you message me 24 hours in advance, I allow two makeup lessons per quarter.

Quarters are as follows:
- January 1st through March 31st
- April 1st through June 30th
- July 1st through September 30th
- October 1st through December 31st

I cannot provide makeup time for students arriving late to class. Outschool policy states that teachers are not required to wait longer than 10 minutes past the scheduled starting time.

Lessons canceled with under 24 hours' notice can be refunded by request of the child's guardian due to illness or family emergency only. In the event of either, please request a refund for that class when you notify me of the emergency. Refunds cannot be honored after the week of the missed class.
