In this four week course, learners will explore the executive branch of government. The class will utilize power point, discussion, in class worksheets, and post lesson hand outs as learning tools. Week 1: The Executive Branch: Purpose and Characteristics Week 2: Powers of the President: Students will learn about powers given to the president in the Constitution The Cabinet: Students will learn about the group of advisors to the president Week 3: President Who?: Students will learn about the presidents of our nation's past, those who are well known and those who are not Week 4: Future President: Students will envision how they will lead a president, what they would want to do for the country, and how they would convince citizens to vote for them. Each week of class will contain review elements from the previous class to aid in the retention of material and comprehension of processes. This class is part of a series of classes I am offering called 'Civics for the Young Learner'. If a learner chooses to participate in the entire series, it would constitute a full academic year of civics education.

I studied political science and public administration at the University of North Dakota. I have taught the following government and history classes at homeschool cooperatives and as an independent instructor for the past four years:
