Class Experience
This class is a crash course in Civics! Students can use it to either prepare for an upcoming high school course or refresh their memory before graduation. This course will cover everything from the basics of citizenship to the intricacies of elections and the branches of government. Students will be able to look at real-world events and analyze them through the lens of the Constitution. I am a fully licensed teacher in North Carolina. I am licensed in grades 6-12 in Social Studies and English. I have an MEd in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in secondary social studies. I have been an educator for 6 years, 3 of which were teaching high school civic literacy and 1 that was in IB MYP Year 1 (6th grade) Individuals and Societies.
Because this is a flex class, students will be expected to do their work on their time and in a timely fashion. There may be some group work, but it will mostly be individual. Classwork should take no more than 2 hours per week.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
A numerical grade will be given at the end of each week, as well as a final grade.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Some students may have varying opinions on some issues covered in class but will be held to a high standard of respect and decorum in our shared classroom spaces.
We will use the US Constitution and various other primary sources throughout the course of the class.
