Description

Class Experience

By having a well-rounded, basic understanding of American Civics and Government; students will be able to look at real-world events and analyze them through the lens of the Constitution!
I am a fully licensed teacher in North Carolina. I am licensed in grades 6-12 in Social Studies and English. I have an MEd in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in secondary social studies. I have been an educator for 6 years, 3 of which were teaching high school civic literacy and 1 that was in IB MYP Year 1 (6th grade) Individuals and Societies.
Because this is a flex class, students will be expected to do their work on their time and in a timely fashion. There may be some group work, but it will mostly be individual. Classwork should take no more than 2 hours per week.
-notebook -writing utensil -highlighters -charged computer
A numerical grade will be given at the end of each week, as well as a final grade.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Some students may have varying opinions on some issues covered in class but will be held to a high standard of respect and decorum in our shared classroom spaces.
We will use the US Constitution and various other primary sources throughout the course of the class.
