Class Experience

There are two parts to our session, with part one focusing on social and communications skills. Learners can make connections with new friends through activities like Show and Tell; games and sharing experiences.

Part two focuses on a calendar-themed routine to provide learners the opportunity to practice English Language Arts. Perhaps there's a special event or two happening during the month, what do we know or can learn about it? Learners can familiarize themselves with how letters and words look and sound like; learn descriptive vocabulary; develop number sense; fine-motor skills (pencil grip) and some writing skills.

Activities are designed to get learners engaged through the use of manipulatives, song/chants and using their selection of stationery and resources. The varied activities include discussions, slides or video-clips, use of a physical whiteboard/tactile resources (like playdough and dice), action-based activities and worksheets. Lessons are planned with teaching goals, but an experienced educator accommodates learners through improvisation.

There are attached files to be used weekly and depending on activities, additional files will be uploaded accordingly. Having an on-hand Stationery Supply Pack/Box for our sessions will help keep learners organized and make it feel more like a real school experience. (the stationery list is in the materials section)
