As an Australian teacher, I love teaching students about the unique animals of my country. During this 6 week class we will learn facts about kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, platypus, emus and wombats. This class will start just like a regular circle time class. We will greet each other, sing some songs and then share a story about the animal we are focussing on. Children will have a chance to share their thoughts and ideas as well as ask any questions they may have. I will share some interesting facts about the focus animal and answer any questions students have raised. We will be learning together and building on the knowledge students have learnt by reviewing the past information. I love my sessions to be interactive and give learners a chance to have a voice. At some points in the session, microphones will be off to limit distractions to other students but there will always be chances to share. Our sessions will always have a game to play. These will vary from session to session to keep things interesting and meet the needs of the group. At times students will get up and get moving- particularly during our singing time and when we pretend to be the animal we are learning about. I aim to make each session a great learning experience with students having fun and being active learners. I hope to see you in class soon!
