In this one time class we will make Cinnacreme and while we sip our Cinnacreme we will share our Keeper of the Lost Cities fan fiction stories. The week before class begins I will send out the recipe for the Cinnacreme. It should only take 20-30 minutes to make our Cinnacreme. That will leave the rest of the class for students to share their Keeper fan stories. I post the ingredients in the chat as we go along in addition to sending out the recipe. I teach all my cooking classes with...
Students will learn the following: -How to make Cinnacreme -Cooking basics -How to follow a recipe -How to share their writing with a group -How to listen attentively as others share
I fell in love with the first Keeper of the Lost Cities book about 2 years ago and then shared the great story with my 4 daughters. Since then we have read all the books in the series multiple times, listened to the series on Audible, gone to see Shannon Messenger in person and had her sign several of our books! I graduated with a BA in English and Spanish for secondary school teaching and planned to teach high school English. I ended up teaching English as a Second Language to ages 7-15. I have taught ESL as a public school teacher and in private settings. I have taught many book studies to ages 8-17 including but not limited to: The Old Man and the Sea, Lord of the Flies, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Red Badge of Courage, The Great Gatsby, The Call of the Wild, The Outsiders, The Scarlet Letter, Tom Sawyer and others. Reading is one of my passions and I love sharing that with my children and my students.
I will send out the recipe with a list of all ingredients the week before the class starts.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I can look over a student's story upon request.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be working in the kitchen. I would only ask that students have a parent nearby monitoring them around kitchen appliances like the microwave and the stove.
