In this one-time hoilday writing course, your learner will pretend to be a Christmas character! Your child can choose from Mrs. Claus, a reindeer, Santa, an elf and gingerbread and write a narrative story pretending to be one of them!

Class Experience
In this class, we will do a fun writing prompt that is Christmas themed! Your child will get to choose from one of the following Christmas characters and finish the writing prompt, "If I Were...": Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, a gingerbread girl, a gingerbread man (boy), girl or boy elf or a reindeer. We will use a graphic organizer to plan out the beginning, middle and end of the narrative. We will also work on adding dialogue and sensory details, such as what the characters saw, felt, heard,...
Students will improve their understanding of the writing process. Students will use proper grammar, spelling and capitalization when writing. Students will plan out the characters, setting and plot of their story. Students will add details to their writing to make their story come to life!
I am a certified elementary teacher and have taught phonics, reading, writing and math for many years. Before teaching 2nd grade, I tutored students in reading comprehension, decoding words, math and science after school and during the summer. I was also a Title 1 reading intervention specialist for grades kindergarten-3rd grade. I have worked in a preschool and pre-k setting as well working on a variety of literacy skills.
