This class will meet twice weekly for 3 weeks and read a different story each time. Week 1: The Wild Christmas Reindeer (Day 1) and The Gingerbread Baby (day 2) Week 2: The Twelve Days of Christmas (Day 1) and The Hat (Day 2) Week 3: Who's That Knocking On Christmas Eve? (Day 1) and The Night Before Christmas (Day 2) There will be an art activity each time we meet, either a craft or painting/drawing. This is a social and interactive class where learners will be encouraged to appreciate the work of Jan Brett while practicing their communication skills within a group setting. **Please note - our final class will be held on Tuesday, December 17th for 1 hour rather than 2x 30 minutes that week***

Day 1: Reindeer Candy Canes - Candy cane - Red pompom - Two googly eyes - Brown pipe cleaner *Learners can have help hot gluing after class if needed Day 2: Gingerbread Babies - Gingerbread man template from classroom - Markers/crayons/pencil crayons/paint - Any decorations available **Learners can print multiple templates on one sheet if they want to do a few. I have had students in the past turn this into a sweet homemade garland by stringing a few together Week 2 Day 1: The Twelve Days of Christmas - Watercolour Tree - White paper/watercolour paper - Watercolour paints Day 2: Hat Craft - Template from classroom (this can traced onto construction paper if you would like a coloured toque. We will still be painting it and adding decorations) - Paint (+ brushes, water) - Pom Pom or something for the top of the hat (yarn cut up and wrapped looks cute) - White glue - Cotton balls (2 or 3 to be spread along the bottom of the hat) Week 3 Day 1: Polar Bear Art - Piece of newspaper - Black construction paper - White paint - Black marker - Cotton balls to paint with Day 2: Christmas tree ornament - 3 popsicle sticks (Green or painted/colored green) - Gems or pom poms to decorate - White glue - Yellow star for the top of tree - Photograph that can be cut and put in the ornament
