Does your child like drinking hot chocolate, wearing Christmas pajamas or comfy clothes, and doing science? If you answered yes, then I hope you will join me for this fun class! Students will have some time each class to talk about their holiday celebrations, winter activities, and fun family traditions. Students are welcome to join us in their favorite Christmas pajamas, Christmas sweater, or any other festive clothes! (Christmas clothes are not required!) Bring along a mug of hot chocolate to sip on during our class time as well! I will be doing each experiment on camera for the students to see, but students are encouraged to have the materials as well so they can join me in the fun! We will talk about the science behind each experiment (when applicable). We will go through the science process of making a hypothesis, observing the science, making a conclusion, and discussion throughout! If there is time left after our experiment, we may play a festive game together. This class will be engaging and hands-on with time for everyone to talk. If your child is not comfortable in discussions, please let me know so I can make any necessary accommodations! Here is our schedule of classes: 1) Candy cane science (week of: Nov. 29) 2) Cookie cutter experiments (week of Dec. 6) 3) Jingle Bell Fun and Sink/Float (week of Dec. 13) 4) Building a Christmas Tree (week of Dec. 20)
Learning Goals
Students will engage in conversations with peers and teacher and do a hands-on STEM experiment.
