Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mikayla. Working with children is my passion! I love teaching a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to Language Arts such as phonics, reading, writing, and communication skills. I have always found a joy in Language Arts all throughout my schooling because these skills are not only used in one subject. Instead, they are used in a wide variety of subjects and topics. I am also interested in exploring other topics such as basic math skills, arts and crafts, life skills, communication and writing skills, reading skills, and so much more. My favorite part of teaching is seeing children get excited as they gain confidence in themselves.
In 2017, I graduated from Lindenwood University in with a bachelors in Ed. Studies. I have worked with children of a variety of ages since I was a a young girl. I am the oldest of 7 kids, so I have been around children all of my life. As a teenager, I have done everything from babysitting to tutoring math, English, reading, writing, and have also done lots of art projects. I am currently a Girl Scout leader to a group of 6 year olds where we do lots of art projects, learn team building skills, practice communication skills, and learn how to be a better person. I look forward to teaching and working with your child(ren) in all of these areas as well. I have been teaching English online for the past two and a half years and absolutely love it!
I like to approach teaching in a fun, engaging way. I always keep in mind that no one student will learn exactly like someone else, so I always try to incorporate many different teaching techniques to include the various learning styles to include auditory, kinesthetic, and visual learners in my classroom. Inclusion is everything and I want my students to feel like they are included in my classes, regardless of their learning style.
During my free time, I am always thinking of new ideas to do with my online students. I also enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, relaxing and going on long drives with my husband. I have a little dog -a puggle- who may or may not come say "hi" to the students every now and then. I also have three birds; an African Gray and two Amazons.
Thank you for reviewing my profile! I can't wait to see you and your child in my classroom!
~Ms. Mikayla
