These designs are fun and beautiful to hang on any tree or anywhere else. I will show you how to draw and paint each design for a Santa and a Christmas tree. They look great on wood slices that can be bought premade from a craft store, or you can paint them on watercolor paper and cut them out when you are finished. *Upon request, participants in multi-learner classes can receive a discount from the listed price. Enroll in a class that has another learner or invite a friend! No previous experience is needed but it is also a fun class for experienced painters. You will need a pencil, permanent marker, a paintbrush, acrylic or watercolor paints, and wood slice ornaments or heavy paper. Please check the supply list for materials used. I teach a versatile painting method that can be done with watercolors or watered-down acrylics. The examples in the photo were done with either watercolor or acrylic paint. While these were designed with the intention of painting wood slices, they can also be painted on watercolor paper as seen in the thumbnail. After the paintings are fully dried, they can be cut out to make ornaments or added to a Christmas card. They are fun designs that can be used in many different ways. Students will be able to see my face and my drawing throughout the class. I'll be available to help and answer questions as well as give encouragement in the painting process. I will instruct the students on how to draw the outlines, show a clear demonstration of myself drawing it, and give everyone time to draw each step themselves. We will then add color to the designs and touch up the lines as needed. This small group format allows me to ensure the pace of painting is appropriate for everyone so that no one falls behind in the instructions. However, class time may run longer than what is listed to ensure everyone finishes with a completed painting. Specific details in the painting may be added or left out depending on group decisions in class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Science from Eastern Kentucky University
Hello everyone!
If you see a class you like but the time doesn't work, I'm happy to work with your schedule. Even if you are in a different time zone or my automatic availability isn't open at a certain time, reach out and there is a good chance I can make something work for you.
A bit about me and my teaching style:
I am passionate about art and creativity. Even more so, I love to inspire that in others. It's not about talent or skills you were born with, it's all about expressing yourself and growing your talent through practice and guidance. I believe everyone has the ability to create masterpieces and should have the freedom to find their own way of making them. I teach with a step-by-step demonstration approach while encouraging students to do it their own way whenever they feel ready to do so. This approach allows for wonderfully blended classes where the less experienced or shy learners can follow along with me and the bolder ones can work in their own way alongside us. Either way, we all end up with unique art we can be proud of and improved knowledge about the art/craft process we are practicing.
My classes are designed to be highly interactive and engaging with questions & answers throughout as well as hands-on activities. Be sure to check the supply list for each class because learners get the best experience when they are ready to learn with every material needed for the class.
In addition to my bachelor's degree in biology, I have a Graphic Arts certificate which I earned from Autry Technology Center. I earned 1st place in state (Oklahoma) and 6th nationally in the 2001 National Skills USA Championship competition in graphic communications. I teach the arts of drawing and painting to adults online on a voluntary basis. I also teach arts and crafts to children as a professional online and as a volunteer in person.
I have over 3 years of online teaching experience with students 4-17 years old. I have also worked with children in person in a variety of settings from my current position as a children's church leader to volunteering in afterschool care for at-risk children.
