Join me for a fun, Christmas-themed phonics class! In this one-time class, learners will practice their knowledge of letter sounds by identifying beginning sounds in words and using correct letter formation in handwriting for the corresponding letter. This class is basically a beginner’s introduction to segmentation, a key aspect of writing! Segmentation involves hearing, identifying, and separating each phoneme in a word. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and am certified in EC-6 (Early Childhood through 6th grade) and ESL (English as a Second Language) . I taught kindergarten for four years, and I have experience in and a passion for teaching early elementary skills. During my time as a teacher, I have worked with elementary students of all ages through whole class, small group, and one-on-one settings. I am excited to use my knowledge to teach your learner in a fun way! Thank you for considering me as an Outschool teacher for your child!
1 file available upon enrollmentFor the full experience, students should have something readily available to write with (ex: paper and pencil/pen/crayon, whiteboard and dry-erase marker) to participate in the handwriting portion of the class. An optional print-out will be provided in the classroom. However, students can still benefit from the learning in this class without writing materials!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Since this is a class for young learners, I just ask that a parent or guardian be around (within hearing distance) to help if/when needed (example: if technical issues arise and the student needs help in order to hear/speak/participate). It is helpful if your learner knows how to mute/unmute. I don't like to mute students, but I will occasionally to ensure all students can hear me teaching. Thank you for your support!
