Class Experience

The holidays are a busy and magical time. Getting kids to focus on math and other academic subjects can be a struggle. Let me help!
In this class we will work through a wide variety of standards based math topics as we plan a holiday vacation. Through engaging Christmas themed activities we will keep math skill sharp and boredom at bay.

Topics covered include (but are not limited to):
multiplication, division, time, money, fractions, decimals and estimation

Though this class is Christmas themed, there is not religious content in this class. The holiday is approached from a kid-friendly secular perspective. We budget for gift shopping; calculate fractions for cookie recipes; calculate Christmas tree heights and help the elves with a variety of tasks.

This class is very interactive and students will have full peer and instructor support as we prepare for the holiday.

Session 1: Nov. 30 - Dec. 4
Session 2: Dec. 7 - Dec. 11
Session 3: Dec. 14 - Dec. 18
Session 4: Dec. 21 - Dec. 25

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mrs. Klein. I have over 15 years of teaching and tutoring students of all ages from grades K-12. My background includes teaching in a traditional brick and mortar school, as well virtually. During my time as a teacher I worked with NSA and NASA to develop STEM outreach programs to engage future scientists. I teach classes in all subject areas, my particular focus is on STEAM. My teaching philosophy is based on the premise that I love to learn, and I love to share information in fun ways with students everywhere. I love for my students to feel successful with content that first frustrated them, and embrace mistakes as learning opportunities not failures. When I am not in the classroom I can be found outside. I love to explore the outdoors with my family and Saint Bernard, Lulu. If the weather isn't great I am usually curled up with a great book. I look forward to seeing you in class!
